Collaboratory at TU Dublin

Collaboratory is the new industry solutions hub from the Technological University Dublin Ireland (TU Dublin). The Innovation Hub specialises in cyber security, internet of things and artificial intelligence. TU Dublin has 25,000 university students who learn in a practiced based environment and are informed by the latest research.

The Challenge

During the briefing stage we further defined our goal with our client; to create a brand which is clear to understand, felt hi-spec and would speak to both academic partners and private sector companies. It was also paramount that it worked well with the existing university branding.

We wanted to avoid the typical iconography associated with cyber security and explored a range of possible typographic led directions throughout the creative exploration phase.

Design Solution

navigatebydesign had the pleasure to create an entirely new branding system for the cyber security hub.

The colour palette and fonts in the final design selection were carefully crafted to help reinforce the link with TU Dublin and give clarity to the brand name ‘Collaboratory’.

The brand identity was supported by graphical devices such as cropping into the ‘C’ and an abstracted background pattern along with carefully curated stock imagery, which could be used across all communications to give a professional and cohesive look.

Implementation

We created new brand elements and supporting identity system, social graphics (Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter), Powerpoint presentations, report graphics, folder suites, stationery and sample signage. navigatebydesign also consulted on the website design and digital assets.
